Deer Valley is an award-winning destination ski resort that typically has positions available in lodging, ski school, casual and fine dining food and beverage operations, ski rental shops, mountain operations such as groomer, snowmaker, ski patrol and everything in between!
PURPOSE OF POSITION : The Early Morning Baker is responsible for production, presentation and display of breakfast baked goods and pastries, including muffins, scones, Danish, and quick breads. The emphasis is on quality, appearance and service. This is an early morning shift which is perfect for someone interested in using their ski benefits to the fullest.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have minimum of 3 month's baking experience or culinary schooling
Must be reliable, extremely well-organized and self-motivated
Must be able to work without direct supervision and be able to follow established recipes and procedures
Must be able to work 4 a.m. to noon, 5 days a week
Needs to provide own transportation as this shift begins at an hour when no public transportation is available
Must have a valid driver's license to deliver pastries to nearby properties in a Deer Valley vehicle
Must provide work shoes, French knife and other knives, spatulas and pastry tools as needed
Standing for long periods of time
Lifting and carrying full sheet pans
JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Consistently produce appetizing Deer Valley high quality baked goods accurately and efficiently
Skillfully produce sourdough and Struan breads and baguettes
Be flexible as needed
Follow designated recipes and procedures
Present and display baked goods for banquets and other events attractively and on time. Maintain communication with other bakers using worksheets and re-cap forms
Maintain a sufficient inventory of baked goods as business dictates. Keep displays clean and organized. Avoid waste through the proper use and storage of food
Organize work time and job duties efficiently. Plan ahead so there is enough product in stock for the next shift of bakers
Take the initiative in maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary workspace. Use and care for Deer Valley equipment appropriately
Present a courteous attitude to guests, going out of the way to offer assistance, on the phone or in person
Work in cooperation with all employees including Stewards and Storeroom
